Several local organizations, including clubs from Seattle University and Seattle Central Community College, Action Northwest, USAS (United Students Against Sweatshops) and SEAC (Student Environmental Action Coalition) are organizing a Student and Youth Activist Conference the weekend of January 20-22 on the Seattle University campus.
We are in need of two things: One: We would like a band to play a short concert as an event for the conference. Is anyone here in a band, or have contacts with a band, that would be interested in playing?
Two: We need educated people willing to be speakers and panalists. Having a degree in or being associated with a group that deals with the topic on which you would like to speak is manditory. The conference is focused on "environmentalism and social justice", which basically covers anything activist-related.
If you are able and willing to help, either in these two ways or just as an interested citizen willing to advertise (we are also in need of "contacts" from other schools, such as UW, PLU, and SPU), please email email@example.com

10:08AM - hiya
I'm so glad I found this community. I'm originally from Oregon and used to live in Seattle for some time.. Now I'm on the east coast but my west coast heart will never die. And the description of this community is great, because I stand for everything mentioned. :D
My name is Casey and I'm 18 years old. How's the PacNW lately? I'm homesick. :(

10:59PM - Vigil For Cindy Sheehan ...
Members of Vancouver for Peace and others that participated in the vigil in solidarity with Cindy Sheehan on Wed 8/17 will continue our call for Mr. Bush to explain his war policies to Cindy Sheehan, the Gold Star Moms for Peace and all of America. We will gather Wed 8/24 from 7 PM to 8 PM across the street from the Vancouver Community Library and simply vigil on the street with signs. We realize that we need to be persistent. Everyone is welcome. Bring signs. We will have banners. We hope to have you join us on Wednesday!

1:43PM - They Might Be Giants show?
Hi to all Seattle Music Fans!
Our arts group, Northwest Programs for the Arts, planned on having the Giants play the 10th Annual Seattle Music Fest at Alki Beach on Friday, Aug. 12th. Long story short, sponsor dollars fell through and we will not be holding the festival at the beach this year (barring someone calling us with miracle dollars today…anyone?).
So, here's the question:
If we scaled the festival to a one-day mini-Fest at the Moore Theatre and had TMBG play the Moore (with a few local band openers), how many of you would be interested?
Tickets would be around $25 with proceeds benefiting Northwest arts programs and helping us bail things out.
There are about 1400 seats at the Moore and we'd have to sell most of them to break even.
***Would you attend? Would you help us get the word out? Can we fill the Moore?***
Please post level of interest here and also e-mail us at tmbg –AT- northwestarts.org.
More info on the Seattle Music Fest (as it was to be) is at http://www.seattlemusicfest.org. More info on how NPA supports artists and brings arts to the community is at http://www.northwestarts.org.
Thanks to all of you for supporting music and those working hard to create it!

10:05AM - New Music
For those interested in new rock music...
I'm a composer/musician who is in the process of recording an album. So far, I've only completed a few demos - and they're very rough. But I thought I'd share this stuff with you anyway.
I'm trying to build a fan base from the ground up...allowing for a more interactive experience. I encourage music enthusiasts to sign my up for my e-newsletter and explore the website. You'll get to hear everything from "works-in-progress" - mistakes and all - to the finished product, as this experience is about chronicling the making of an album from start to finish.
I won't spam you - I promise...I only send out newsletters about once a month.
I figure this is a good way to share my music with others and perhaps make a few groovy friends as well. The website also has a discussion forum...which is open to any topic concerning music - mine or anyone else's.
I love to talk music with others, and I am interested in what some of the other musicians in this community are doing as well.
So here are the links:
Hear a couple of songs:
Audio Page (songs are usually 5-6 mb in size)
Mailing list and forum: The Connection Page
Thanks for allowing me to plug my project:)

This is my friend Sierra, on friday night (march 12th) we went dancing with a group of girls. The club is on the waterfront in Portland by the world trade center, it's called FX. She was last seen at approximatly 12:30am on that night inside the club. She has no money, no ID, and hasn't contacted anyone since that night. There is an 1000 dollar reward for any information leading to her whereabouts. Please help us find her. If you have any information email me @ firstname.lastname@example.org, or contact me by phone (360)609-2625. Thank you very much.

Well, I've been a member of this for quite some time, originally joining during a time when I was pretty sick of this state, and upon revisiting Seattle my zealous love of Washington was rekindled, so I decided I needed to finally post in here. I currently lack any complaints about Washington, save the cold weather it is the perfect place for me. I am a 16 year old aspiring drop out in case any of you were wondering about the actual information that seems obligatory. The good ol' age and ambitions stuff. I guess I would ramble if I didn't cut this off right now.
